Connections Training and Wellness Centre is hosting a professional development workshop entitled Working with People with an Intellectual Disability – Part 2 “What makes a good support worker on 6 June 2017.

With the introduction of the NDIS and the move in Queensland to the ‘Your Life Your Choice’ program workers are now required to support clients outside of their organisation’s traditional client base. If this is your experience, then come along to this introductory session.

In the next workshop this series, participants will explore in depth what makes a good support worker for individuals with an intellectual disability. Deconstructing this topic through group discussion on best practice will support participants to identify strategies that will make a difference to the lives of those they support.

Skill development will be discussed as a primary tool for support workers to empower individuals, along with appropriate communication strategies.
