NDIS early launch in Queensland

On 25 September 2015, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced that the NDIS will be available in North Queensland from early 2016, six months ahead of the planned full roll-out.

TOWNSVILLE, Charters Towers and Palm Island will be the first in Queensland to sign up to the National Disability Insurance Scheme early next year, bringing forward assistance for 1600 people.

People with a disability aged under 18 in Townsville and Charters Towers, and all eligible people with a disability on Palm Island, will be the first in the state to access the scheme.
