NDIS resources to increase engagement from culturally and linguistically diverse background

12th March 2018

The NDIS is a major reform that has the potential to improve lives, but many people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds are missing out.

A recent report from SBS highlights the many barriers that exist in engaging people from CALD communities.  It backs up findings from the Community Mental Health Australia commissioned Mind the Gap’ report that people from these communities are not applying to the NDIS at levels expected.

With the support of the Federal and State Governments, Multicultural Development Australia and DiverseWerks have produced online resources and training sessions to increase sectoral awareness of CALD people with disability.

There is an NDIS Provider Readiness Training: CALD Communities – Logan by MDA and DiverseWerks in Logan on March 26 – see here for more details.
